Milford Wind Farm
Project Details: One of the largest wind farm transmission projects to be completed on BLM land, the 203.5 megawatt Milford Wind project consisted of 88.26 miles of 345kV transmission line, 97 wind turbine generators, 13 meteorological towers, 34.5kV underground collection system, facility substation, interconnection facility and a SCADA system. The project called for an extremely fast-track construction schedule of 23 weeks. With an original start date of July 2008 the project was delayed several times during the summer and early fall due to right-of-way and permitting issues.
Along with a world-wide financial crisis, the project team had to battle a number of challenges including the weather, material issues, engineering changes, raptor nesting restrictions, and other environmental challenges. Yet, the project remained on schedule and met the targeted completion date.
