NREL Science & Technology Facility
Project Details: Performed electrical construction services on the new construction of the NREL facility. The projected consisted of a 71,000 square foot multi-level facility. The centerpiece of the building is the Process Development and Integration Laboratory (PDIL) – a 10,170 square foot laboratory specifically designed to accommodate a new class of thin film photovoltaics (PV) deposition.
It also includes nine advanced material synthesis, characterization and general support laboratories, seven "interaction spaces" and 14,740 square feet of office space. The science and technology facility recovers 50% of its energy through energy recovery technologies.
This project received the A.G.C. 2006 A.C.E. Award – Project of the Year ($1-$3 Million) Subcontractor and LEED Platinum Certification from the USGBC.
