Power Line Construction

MYR Group companies have constructed thousands of miles of transmission and distribution lines around the country and is one of the largest national contractors servicing the transmission and distribution sectors of the United States electric utility industry. Experience at voltages up to 765kV provides us with the expertise to construct and maintain power lines and substations for utility, industrial, mining, institutional and government facilities.

Our T&D services include the construction and maintenance of high voltage transmission lines, substations, and lower voltage underground and overhead distribution systems. MYR has the resources to perform emergency restoration services in response to hurricane, ice or other storm related damage.

MYR Group also provides complete turn key services for large transmission projects including engineering, procurement and construction (EPC). The MYR Group has long-standing relationships with engineering and supply integrators to support EPC project requirements. Our commercial/industrial construction division has extensive experience installing electrical systems in a variety of facilities including high tech manufacturing, clean rooms, power plants, airports, petrochemical facilities, mining operations, prisons, schools, biotechnology laboratories, healthcare/hospital facilities, sport complexes, food processing facilities, bottling plants, government installations, hotels, casinos, retail buildings and office complexes.

The services provided by the MYR companies include facility power, site utilities, controls, instrumentation, security systems, fire alarms, fiber optics and telecommunications services. Project sizes vary from small renovations to large fast track projects. MYR's commericial and industrial operations are primarily focused in the western United States.

Telecommunications

The MYR Group companies provide a complete range of telecommunications/teledata installation services. Our "in-building" telecommunications/teledata services include LAN/WAN, telephone, video, voice, data, security and fire alarm systems. "Outside Plant" expertise includes both underground and overhead copper and fiber optic cable installation, foundation construction and tower installations.

Alternative Energy

With an economy shifting towards wind generation as a large scale energy source, MYR Group's transmission infrastructure is developed to reliably integrate renewable energy sources. We have the ability to support the substantial development of wind farms and other energy sources like solar, geothermal, hydrogen and biomass which requires a connection to the transmission grid. MYR offers the expertise required to engineer, procure, and construct substations, transmission lines, and both overhead and underground collector systems that collect power from wind generation.

In 2003, the MYR Group companies began constructing substations, transmission lines and collector systems for wind farms. Since that time we have worked on more than a dozen wind farm projects and have learned a significant amount about their special needs.
